Welcome to Lydstep Nursery, where hopefully you'll find everything you need to know about the childcare we provide, across 3 clear spaces for Babies, Toddlers and Pre-School children from 6 months to 5 years.
In addition to our brand new facilities, including our own courtyard garden, we are building an amazing team working to support and encourage every child within the Early Years Foundation Stage which has four main themes:
A unique child + Positive relationships + Enabling environments = LEARNING & DEVELOPMENT
The Cottage - Under Two's
As the latest addition, Lydstep Nursery provides a dedicated and self contained Cottage room for the youngest members of your family from 6 months up to 2 years old, or sometimes earlier if they’re ready to join the bigger toddlers.
With passionate and experienced staff supporting our babies, the room is designed around a baby's early physical, emotional and social development, with everything included from nappies to milk.
A dedicated free flow terrace garden just for our babies, flows from their large bright internal space with views over Dame Emily Park using natural furniture, a homely environment and light pastel colours in the room.
Babies enjoy physical activities, exploring furniture and resources designed to develop their gross motor skills, take risks and have fun in a safe and nurturing room. Their own Quiet Sensory space allows exploration whilst creative arts and crafts and develop their imagination as well as the dedicated role play areas.
The Bakery - Toddlers
Our ground floor toddler facilities will provide large distinct play, activity and rest areas, tailored on two different sides for children from 18 months up to Pre-School age. The two development stages of Buns (our younger group) and Bloomers (older toddlers) allows for more dedicated activities to fit children’s individual needs.
The Bakery room surrounds a sheltered courtyard garden, providing free flow access for the children on both sides, where the age groups can benefit from mixed activities. Providing spaces where children can develop their sense of self, giving them confidence to explore and make decisions, while learning about the world around them with stimulating resources and staff led activities.
This room is spacious and inspiring, using natural calming colours for resources and furniture wherever possible and includes areas to develop children’s learning and imagination, through role play or construction, calm restful areas or quiet reading corners.
The Library - Pre-School
Beyond the tailored and adaptable approach we apply as our toddlers grow and develop, our Pre-School room has been set out to thoroughly prepare our older children for school. Normally moving up between 4 to 5 years, children join the Library Room in the September before starting school in another subtle but important route to such a big transition.
There will be a reading area, role play area for dressing up and pretend play, but the room focuses on a wide variety of dedicated resources for older children to learn about Maths, Science, ICT and general preparation for school.
Our Library rooms are led by a dedicated teacher, with lesson plans and activities that ensure children’s development and skills are ready to start their next adventure into full time education.
Nursery is often the foundation of children’s education as a time for both learning and play. We focus on developing your child’s skills so that they approach school with confidence, excitement and eagerness.
Courtyard Garden
Children at Lydstep Nursery will enjoy a free flow outdoor space, where toddlers can mix and play with their older peers, whilst babies have a quiet terrace of their own under a calming Brise Soleil.
Each space is dedicated to the children and their development with outdoor areas for each age group. These spaces will allow for physical play and exploration every day and in all weathers, not forgetting Dame Emily Park right on our doorstep, which will provide for understanding of greater responsibility and the wider community.
At Nursery Village we strongly believe that most activities can be planned to happen outdoors and in, including meals times and creative play.
